INFORMATION ABOUT SCOUTING
Training for all adult volunteers in Scouting
How training works
The Adult Training Scheme provides on-going training for all adults in Scouting – those who wear a uniform, and those who do not. Every adult will have a personal learning plan and a Training Adviser to support them through their training. Full details of the training scheme are available on the Scouts UK website (opens in a new window). The Region arranges the delivery of most of the Modules, but the Districts arrange the basic training for those starting out in Scouting, and also First Response training and the Safeguarding Modules.
Regional Training Calendar 2014-15
This programme has been developed from those of previous years. It includes Wood Badge training opportunities for Section Leaders and for GSLs/Commissioners, offering all the modules as least twice. Ongoing learning opportunities are included to help develop skills in presenting, facilitating and being a training adviser, activity assessor or trainer, for example. First Aid courses are also available regularly throughout the year. Several safeguarding and appointments committee training courses are included to help meet the demand. More safeguarding courses and all the ‘Getting Started’ courses are coordinated within each District so are not listed in this calendar. The Region runs several other courses that are not listed here but which are advertised separately. Local training sessions are still on offer whereby we can help support the Districts’ provision of ‘getting started’ modules, validation opportunities or to provide individual support for training. We are also keen to support Districts by meeting requests for particular courses, say, for team development as well as personal training. Please contact Ken Thomson when you are considering this or any aspect of adult training in the Region. We would encourage all leaders to continue with, and if possible complete, their training in the coming year and trust that this Calendar will provide opportunities that suit you. Check what is available: (opens in a new window).
Until we set up an online booking system, please apply for training using one of the downloadable forms (open in new window).
